Beginning Digital Photography:

This half day workshop is an introduction to the digital camera. Bring your camera, your manual, and a stuffed animal friend. We cover basic camera controls, beginning composition and exposure techniques. The focus is on learning how to move beyond the fully automatic setting. This is a hands-on workshop, be prepared to take lots of images and to share the images with the rest of the group if you feel comfortable.

Intermediate Digital Photography:

This workshop is for beginning and intermediate digital photographers and is a continuation of The Beginning Digital Photography workshop. In this workshop the focus is on more advanced camera controls such as the histogram and how to properly compose and expose photographs. We will be spending the majority of our time taking pictures and critiquing them.

Advanced Digital Photography Topics:  

Waterfall Photography: (Not Offered)
Have you ever taken a photograph of a waterfall and been disappointed with the results? If so, then this half day workshop is for you. At this workshop we learn will how to take good waterfall images, go to Tumwater Falls and take pictures, and then return to the Coach House to look at our images and see how we did. We will also talk about some editing techniques for making those waterfalls really pop.

Focus Stacking:
This computer workshop is for more advanced photographers. Have you ever taken a close-up photograph of a flower and, no matter what you do, the entire flower is not in focus? In this workshop we will learn how to use focus stacking to get all elements of a macro photograph in focus.

Landscape Photography:
In this hands-on workshop we will explore the art of landscape photography. We will start by learning what makes a good landscape composition, how to determine exposure and when to use filters. Then we will take some landscapes and then return to the Coach House to look at our images and see how we did. We will also talk about some editing techniques for making those landscapes really pop.

Flower and Macro Photography:
In this hands-on class we will explore how to take pictures of flowers and small items close up. We will start with flower techniques and then move on to learning some macro techniques. We will practice taking flower and macro images and then look at our images to see how we did. We will also talk about some editing techniques for making those images stand out.

Night Photography: (Not Offered)
It is so fun to take photographs after dark. In this hands-on workshop we will some techniques on how to take nighttime photographs and then go outside and practice the techniques. Afterwards we will look at our images and see how we did. We will also talk about some editing techniques for making those images really pop.

Flash Photography: (Not Offered)
Using flash with your photography can be lots of fun. In this hands-on workshop you will learn how to creatively use flash both on and off the camera. It will be helpful if you have your own external flash; I will have some that you can try if you are using a Canon or Nikon DSL.
